At its centre, composer Simone Salvatici leads live sound baths atop an elevated performance platform. Visitors recline against the structure, experiencing tactile vibrations from the bespoke sound system embedded within. Pulsing colours flow from sunset to sunrise. Western healthcare is largely based on the belief that the two are distinct, unrelated entities, leaving many patients sidelined and alone.The womb-like interior centres on mugwort, a medicinal plant used by herbalists for holistic healing and enhancing intuition. Cleansing hands in the fountain's flow of water and aromatic mugwort is grounding and calming. Meeting in the space also facilitates reflection and open discussion, building a supportive community over time. As participants learn that their experiences are shared by others, the internalised taboo inherent in many psychosomatic conditions begins to melt away. As with systems of oppressive control throughout history, Alchemy attempted to purify the ‘base’ to reach ‘higher’, more valued matter - in Alchemy’s case, transmogrifying substances like lead into gold.I have used the lengthy cooking process of a quince to mirror Spagyric experiments - Alchemical techniques which seek to extract spiritual knowledge from plant matter. NOOM is a wearable skin accessory, which uses biotechnology to detect &amp; visualise the wearer’s menstrual phases via bacterial colour changes.The installation’s spiral-like structure is formed around the quaternary biological rhythm of the menstrual cycle, with an adaptable modular setup designed for pop-ups across varied locations. Flowing layers of linen are draped across the space, hand-dyed with the natural purple pigments used to create NOOM.Both guests &amp; passersby are drawn to enter the space, an intervention in the This book draws the reader into the art of collecting and curating objects with personal resonance, guiding in the cultivation of this act as a powerful tool for self expression and self care.Whether sentimental, religious, aesthetic or functional, personal artefacts accumulate layered memories and associations over time, expressing one’s perception of self and the wider world. Developing the habit of collecting on a small scale in your everyday surroundings can be a way to explore, discover and understand your own reality in a playful and curious way.Inviting the reader into an intimate archiving of my own collection of artefacts, I use visuals and words to interpret each personal association and express the joy, passion and value of doing this in your own life. This rare glimpse into the inner world of another is paired with interviews with a broad range of collectors and an in-depth analysis of the psychological, evolutionary and historical explanations for the human desire to surround ourselves with personal objects.
